The prestigious Aga Khan Gold Cup’s 49th golf tournament, hosted by the Ismaili Council for Bangladesh since 1973, was formally inaugurated amidst a lot of fanfare at the lush green and picturesque Kurmitola Golf Course on Friday morning.

The tournament is being held after a gap of two years due to the Covid pandemic, and is being sponsored by IPDC, Bombay Sweets, Habib Bank Ltd, Mumtaz Herbal, Olympic, Alco Aluminum, and Finis, said a press release issued on Friday. Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan formally inaugurated the tournament by teeing off as the chief guest.

Major General Md Zahirul Islam, vice-president, Brig General Md Shawkat Osman, club captain, Brigadier General Abidur Reza Khan (retd), chairman, the tournament committee, Lieutenant Colonel Abu Md Sayedur Rahman (retd), chief executive officer, Lieutenant Colonel Md Anwar Hossain, general manager, Golf Operations, were present on behalf of the Kurmitola Golf Club.

Amyn Saleh, president of the Ismaili Council for Bangladesh and other members of the council were also present at the inaugural ceremony.

The prize distribution ceremony will be held on Saturday evening, January 21, 2023 at the Banquet Hall of the Kurmitola Golf Club.as
